NORTH ADAMS -- John W. "Jack" Bond, longtime city businessman and civic leader, died at his home Thursday morning after a prolonged illness, leaving behind a legacy of devotion for his fellow man and his beloved community.
Bond, 77, owned the New Kimbell Building, home of the concourse at 85 Main St.

NORTH ADAMS -- Former City Councilor Christopher J. Tremblay will permanently shut down the North Adams Pizza Co., at 20 Holden St., on June 1, if a buyer for the wood-fired pizza and Mexican restaurant hasn't emerged by his target date.
The restaurant, which will celebrate its first anniversary on May 28, has been listed for sale on craigslist.

ADAMS -- More than 40 headstones have been toppled at the Maple Street Cemetery in a massive act of vandalism that mirrors incidents that have happened in Pittsfield and North Adams recently.
Late last week, Cemetery Com-issioner David Nuvallie found that dozens of the grave markers had been knocked off their pedestals, broken in half or uprooted from the ground.
