Painter Catherine Doocy's work might seem to focus on landscapes, but she would say she uses landscapes in order to focus on composition, color and the emotions landscapes evoke, rather than trying to offer any meticulous documentation.
Her goal is to capture what she sees through the simplicity of brushstrokes rather than a photographic complexity. Doocy's work is currently highlighted at the NAACO Gallery in North Adams as part of "Blue Variations." She can be found online at www.naacogallery.org/artist_110_Catherine-Doocy.htm.
