BENNINGTON -- The Bennington Arts Guild has added the work of nine new artists to their downtown Bennington gallery -- the gallery wall space has been expanded to accommodate the work of eight new two-dimensional media artists, while the ninth brings sculpture to the gallery.

The new artists are Jazmine Gabriel (abstract painting) of Pittstown, N.Y.; Jami Gras (sculpture) of Averill Park, N.Y.; Aimee LaPorte (painting and recycled crafts) of Bennington; Jackie Kelly (photo poems, painting) of Bennington; Alison Kolesar (painting and collage) of Williamstown, Mass.; Anna Kronick (stained glass and cut paper) of North Adams, Mass.; Nancy Pardine (music covers) of Bennington; Tim Tenentes (photography) of North Bennington; and Jennifer Weiler (fantasy art) of Arlington.

"I’m excited to join the guild," Kolesar said in supplied material "The gallery provides a year-round indoor space to display my work ... And I get to meet and be part of a group of artists in what can otherwise be a lonely profession. Being around other artists’ work will be a stimulus to my own creativity." Since moving to the area in 1984, Kolesar has done illustrations for books and magazines, as well as painted.

Gabriel moved to Pittstown last August from Oregon; she is working on integrating the colors of the local landscape into a series of abstract paintings.

Kelly, who retired to Bennington two years ago, was raised in the Bronx, N.Y.,

and worked as a teacher in Germany and Japan. She chose Bennington because of its devotion to the arts, its surrounding beauty and friendly people. Kelly has a dragon painting in the BAG’s current community dragon show, and combines photography with poetry in her other work. The Bennington Arts Guild Gallery (BAG) is located at 103 South St., at the Four Corners. BAG is open Wednesday through Monday. For information visit facebook.com/BenningtonArtsGuildGallery.
