Santa Fund readies for the big day: NORTH ADAMS -- The shelves at Cariddi Sales are stocked and waiting for local parents, who have been selected by the Northern Berkshire Santa Fund, to pick out toys for their children.
The Northern Berkshire Santa Fund, which launched its annual fundraising campaign earlier this month, has set a goal of raising $25,150 this year. Donations, which recently reached $4,719, are used to provide gift certificates to needy families for the purchase of toys at Cariddi Sales, which has partnered with the fund for over three decades.
"Last year we provided toys to over 550 children and we are quickly approaching that number again," Peter Lynch, publisher of the Transcript and The Advocate said Thursday.
Lynch, who also serves as the president of the Santa Fund's Board of Directors, said the fund has provided toys to over 500 children
