Three face heroin charges: NORTH ADAMS -- Three Northern Berkshire residents were arraigned today in Northern Berkshire District Court on charges of possessing heroin with intent to distribute and conspiracy to violate the drug law.

Brown Street blaze claims home: ADAMS -- A Brown Street resident lost his home Friday due to a fire officials say was caused by a faulty electrical circuit.
Fire Chief Paul Goyette said Friday's early-morning blaze left Robert Wadsworth's 18 Brown St. home uninhabitable and the structure will likely be torn down.
First responders were dispatched to the scene after neighbors reported heavy smoke coming from the two-and-a-half story wood-frame structure at roughly 5:45 a.m.

Temperature trouble on Ashland Street: NORTH ADAMS -- Tenants of Ashland Street's high-rise complex are complaining of cold. They say the building is frigid and drafty, while the Housing Authority maintains that many "heat gun" checks have not yielded any temperatures below the target 68 degrees. The high temperature is 72, and the thermostat is controlled by whether the lights in a given room are off or on.

Commission against building on farmland: WILLIAMSTOWN -- Members of the Agricultural Commission have agreed to support efforts to solve the town's affordable housing problem, but also to oppose building on farmland.
"We should be up front in our support for affordable housing, but also for the preservation of farmland," commission member Kim Wells said at Thursday's commission meeting.
