Reward offered in burglary case: NORTH ADAMS -- Retired city police officer Bill Davis' home was recently robbed and he's not letting it go quietly.
Davis is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to a conviction, and tips can be anonymously provided to North Adams Police Det. John LeClair, or through the department's Facebook page.
"The guy who did this is not an amateur," Davis said Wednesday. "He's an experienced burglar. If he's not stopped he'll continue to burglarize, and if caught in a house, he might hurt someone. ... It's my intent to help bring him to justice."

Salary increases sent to committee: NORTH ADAMS -- Salary increases
City Councilors voted to send the request for the salary increases and $5,000 annual stipends for the city's police and fire directors and the city's police lieutenant, to the Finance Committee for review. The committee will have until the council's Feb. 12 meeting to return a report.

Difference in deer harvests not drastic: The Transcript speaks with the state Division of Fisheries and Wildlife about the deer hunting season that ended in December. According to preliminary numbers from the state, the harvest in Western Massachusetts this year was not dramatically different from last year's.
