Cheshire Inn demo bid awarded: CHESHIRE -- A town icon that has seen better days is soon to be no more.
Selectmen have awarded D. Condron Construction Inc. a $47,870 project to demolish the Cheshire Inn on Route 8.
"Once it's gone, I think, people will start to appreciate what a nice piece of property it is," Selectwoman Carol Francesconi said at the board's Tuesday meeting.

Septic work slated for spring: CHESHIRE -- Tenants of the town's mobile home park are wondering why needed infrastructure work has yet to be undertaken by park owners, but state Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) representatives Wednesday reported a project is scheduled for spring.
After litigation that held up a planned and permitted septic system upgrade at Pine Valley Motor Home Park since 2010 was resolved in October, tenants and town officials alike expected the project to begin shortly thereafter.
It did not, and explanations were not forthcoming from park owners Morgan Management.
