Boon for BART: ADAMS -- The Massachusetts Board of Elementary and Secondary Education has voted to allow BART (Berkshire Arts & Technology Charter Public School) to increase enrollment from 308 to 363 and add Pittsfield as a city served.
This means Pittsfield students get the same enrollment preference as Northern Berkshire school children. The charter update is good until 2018, when the school will apply again.
Executive Director Julia Bowen is pleased with the development but says focus is now on building upgrades and thinks the school will have more leverage to negotiate a capital improvements loan with a Boston/Washington, D.C., bank.
