NORTH ADAMS - Monday's morning commute could be a little messy, as the National Weather Service out of Albany, N.Y. has issued a winter weather advisory for ice for the Northern Berkshires.

The advisory, which begins at 4 a.m. on Monday and goes through 6 p.m., calls for a wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain. Mixed slow and sleet are expected to begin before daybreak and change over to freezing rain shortly after daybreak.

By midday, the freezing rain is expected to change over to rain, as temperatures climb into the 40s.

A winter weather advisory means that periods of snow, sleet, freezing rain could cause travel difficulties.
