The wheels of change: NORTH ADAMS -- Wheel Estates Mobile Home Park residents met today with the Mobile Home Rent Control Board to discuss the requested $49 rent increase meant to help fund the purchase of the park by a tenants cooperative.

Winter's last gasp? A storm in Northern Berkshire on the last day of winter left over a foot of snow in some higher elevations, according to John Hockridge of New England Weather Associates.

As the winter season ends (on the calendar anyway), North Adams Director of Public Works Timothy Lescarbeau said the sand and salt budget for the city is nearly depleted.

The will to grow: WILLIAMSTOWN -- A committee is moving forward in exploring the pros and cons of expanding Mount Greylock Regional School District.

The Regional District Amend ment Committee, created at a School Committee meeting on Jan. 15, is a 19-member task force made up of officials from Lanesborough and Willi amstown that will determine whether to recommend the district expand to include Willi amstown and Lanesborough elementary schools.

"Our job is to really assess all of this information and make an informed recommendation so that the school committees and the towns can decide whether this is something that they're looking to do," School Com mittee Chair Carrie Greene said at Monday's meeting.
