ROTTERDAM, N.Y. (AP) -- Authorities have charged a 28-year-old man with breaking into an Albany-area home where the bodies of a woman and her daughter were found.
Police in the Schenectady County town of Rotterdam say Thursday that Brice Rivenburgh (REYE’-vehn-berg) of Rotterdam was charged with burglary and is in jail without bail.
Officials say the arrest was made as police investigate the discovery of the women’s bodies inside their home in Rotterdam, 11 miles northwest of Albany. Authorities say 52-year-old Tammy McCormack and her 23-year-old daughter, Jessica, were found slain Wednesday morning as emergency crews responded to a report of a fire.
Local media outlets report that Rivenburgh is Jessica McCormack’s ex-boyfriend. It couldn’t immediately be determined if he had a lawyer.
Police say additional charges are pending.
Police say the women’s bodies were found in separate upstairs bedrooms.
