NORTH ADAMS -- The first city's first tattoo parlor is set to arrive on State Street.
A permit for Arte Bella, a body art studio to be located in a 700-square-foot space at 145 State St., was approved unanimously by the Redevelopment Authority at its Monday night meeting.
"I want to have a shop there so people can have professional artwork done, instead of going other places," Seth LaBonte told the board members.
According to the application submitted to the authority, the hours of operation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. LaBonte will be the owner-employee, until another trained professional has completed their apprenticeship and meets the Health Department regulations.
Building Inspector William Meranti stated LaBonte has already been in front of the Board of Health.
"They looked favorable upon everything that he presented to them," he said.
City Council President Michael Bloom, who is landlord for the property, was also present at Monday's meeting.
"We'll work with Seth to improve the property to meet all of the code requirements," Bloom said.
There was little discussion among Redevelopment Authority members, which are Chairman Paul Hopkins and members Kyle Hanlon and Michael Leary.
