NORTH ADAMS -- Marine Pfc. Fred Griffin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Griffin of Curran Highway, took part recently in amphibious exercises near Dikili, Turkey while serving aboard the flagship USS Mount McKinley with the 8th Regiment of the 2nd Marine Division from Camp Lejeune, N.C. Pfc. Griffin has been overseas since early this summer.
NORTH ADAMS -- Marine Pvt. Raymond Felix Jr., son of Raymond Felix of 319 Beaver St., has completed recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Parris Island, S.C., and has been sent to Camp Lejeune, N.C. for advanced infantry training. The young Marine enlisted in the corps for a four-year tour of duty and left for boot camp July 18.

WILLIAMSTOWN -- Four people have joined the admissions office staff at Williams College. Katherine Fretwell, Jo Ann Brown Gray-Murray and Richard Nesbitt were named assistant directors of admissions and Gordon Becker has been named assistant to the director of admissions. Their responsibilities will include interviewing prospective applicants, travel to secondary schools, and contributing to admissions decisions.
WILLIAMSTOWN -- The Visiting Nurse Association of Northern Berkshire has announced the recent addition of four members to its staff. Three new staff members are registered nurses -- Megan Harrington, Cynthia Mulder and Phoebe Westwood

NORTH ADAMS -- In recent youth football action, the North Adams Cowboys traveled to Lee and came home with a 18-0 win. For the Cowboys the offensive line of Jeff Moulton, Dayton Logan, Cyrus Furtado, Dillon Flynn, Matt Dargie, Leon Thomas and Tommy Primmer opened holes for Justin Racette, Billy Bostwick and Jake and Mike Cantoni.
NORTH ADAMS -- Gov. A. Paul Cellucci has appointed Matt Harris, chief executive officer of Village Ventures, and Dr. Eugene Leibowicz, a neurosurgeon with a practice in Pittsfield, to the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts Board of Trustees. They replace Sheriff Carmen Massimiano, who completed his five-year term, and Betsy Holtzinger, who resigned.
