The Cheshire Volunteer Fire Department responded to a truck fire at about 9:15 a.m. on Monday on Notch Road in Cheshire. The vehicle, owned by Joe Prince, was destroyed by the fire, according to Fire Chief Tom Francesconi. A cause has not been determined because of the extent of the damage, but Francesconi said Tuesday that Prince was driving eastbound when smoke started coming from the dashboard.
"It went really, really fast," Francesconi said of the blaze, adding that by the time a fire truck arrived, the engine compartment was already in flames. The fire closed Notch Road for roughly 45 minutes, and firefighters were on the scene for about an hour and a half.
