NORTH ADAMS -- The North Adams Police Department’s two pistol teams have won first place in their classes in the New England Police Revolver League contest for March. Patrolman Edward Gyurasz was the sharpest shooter of the local marksmen, followed by Capt. Charles Morse Jr. Other members of the teams were Capt. William Garner, Sgt. Kenneth Gamache, Patrolman Henry Maroni, officers Donald Morin, Roger Prevey, William Morandi, Theodore Meranti and Richard Bush. STAMFORD -- Awards were presented by Faith Robillard to students of her fourth and fifth grades on Friday, the last day of school. Writing certificates went to Craig Woodworth, Robert Emmons, Michael Cole, Bruce Robare, Nathan Finney, Ellen Whitham, Cathy Hohn, Gary Arnold and Lawrence Tiezzi.

NORTH ADAMS -- Jennifer Moreau picked up the pitching win while adding two hits on offense to pace Morrison Berkshire to a 3-2 victory over Preite Oil Co. in Northern Berkshire Girls’ Softball action. Kathy McCarron knocked in the winning RBI for Morrison and Merredith McArthur added two hits. For Preite Oil, Julie Harrington had three hits and Jennifer Miller added two safeties.
NORTH ADAMS -- Several northern Berkshire seventh graders were honored by the Center for the Advancement of Academically Talented Youth at a ceremony in Boston on June 7. The students received awards for

NORTH ADAMS -- Jennifer Lorge, daughter of Allan and Nancy Lorge of 24 Maple St., graduated magna cum laude on May 19 from the University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy with a doctorate of pharmacy degree. She is presently employed with Nassiff’s Professional Pharmacy and upon completion of her board exams in June will be a registered pharmacist.
WILLIAMSTOWN -- The American Legion Auxiliary will hold its 57th annual Massachusetts Girls State from June 16-21 at Bay Path College in Longmeadow. Colleen Gerrity, daughter of Michael Gerrity and Anne Clarke-Gerrity and Mary Cella, daughter of Robert and Janet Cella, have been chosen to be representatives. Both girls are juniors at Mt. Greylock Regional High School.
