Close call in the city: NORTH ADAMS -- A structure fire on Isbell Street this evening led to a woman having to be rescued by neighbors after the fire trapped her in an apartment.

Clark Art uncovers the past: WILLIAMSTOWN -- Through rarely exhibited and archeological finds never seen before, the Clark Art is hoping to expand the understanding of the cultural heritage of China through its unconventional summer show, "Unearthed."

The exhibition, which features a 9-ton sarcophagus of Song Shaozu, from the 477 C.E., and many of the works of art found inside of it which hold religious meanings, explores the culture and heritage of the country, paralleling Sterling

Clark's 1908 expedition in northern China, which explored uncharted biological and historical aspects at that time.

Up until 2008, little was known of Sterling Clark's expedition into northern China, a 17-month trek that cataloged new species and mapped out the unknown, save for his 1912 work, "Through Shen-Kan." Over the last five years, the Clark Art has put together the events and impetus for the trek of its founder, which three new shows celebrate.

New head at Hoosac Valley: CHESHIRE -- Adams-Cheshire Regional School District Superintendent Alfred Skrocki reports that a new Hoosac Valley High School principal has been hired.

Doors closed to Cardimino: NORTH ADAMS -- Local government critic Robert Cardimino has been informed by the city that he is no longer permitted in City Hall following a volatile Open Forum session at last week's City Council meeting, where Cardimino was called out of order by Council President Michael Bloom.

Young artists at work: CLARKSBURG -- For the past year, students in grades three through five at the Clarksburg Elementary School have designed and built a mosaic sculpture using foam, cement, and broken tiles and dishware. The sculpture will become a permanent fixture in front of the town's library following a dedication ceremony tonight at 6:30.
