MONTPELIER, Vt. -- Sean Martin scored on an RBI single from Michael White in the seventh to lead Vermont to a 7-6 walk-off win over North Adams in the first game of a doubleheader.
The SteepleCats had tied the game in the top of the inning on RBI hits from Charlie Law and Shane O'Connell. However, a hit-by-pitch and walk in the home half put two on, allowing White to drive in the winner.
Matt Longfield took the loss for North Adams, allowing a hit and a run in 2/3 of an inning. Starter Christian MacDonald gave up six runs off six hits in four innings of work before Thomas Bammann shut out Vermont over the next two innings.
Charlie Law finished the game with three RBI for North Adams.
In Game 2, the SteepleCats again rallied late to take the lead. This time North Adams was able to hang on to it, escaping Vermont with a split and snapping a three-game losing streak.
The SteepleCats held a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning, but the Mountanieers scored three runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead. It didn't last long.
Esteban Tresgallo was hit by a pitch to start the inning. He was the first of three straight SteepleCats to take a free pass. Will Klausing delivered a hit with the bases full, scoring Tresgallo and Brett Clements. Klausing then scored on a sacrifice fly by Jeff Roy. Charlie Law drove home the final run of the inning with a double.
Tyler Badamo started the game for North Adams and went
Matt Longfield got the win after pitching the sixth inning. Brian Hunter got the save, pitching a scoreless seventh.
Tyler Rogers took the loss on the mound for Vermont. He gave up five runs on one hit. He allowed three walks and hit a batter in the seventh.
Aaron Barbosa and Chris Cook led Vermont with two hits each.
Klausing led North Adams with two RBI.
The SteepleCats are off Today, and will travel to Danbury Thursday. They will return home to play Laconia on Friday night, at Joe Wolfe Field.
