READSBORO, Vt. -- Pvt. Ronald Gordon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gordon of North Hill, has completed eight weeks of advanced individual armor training under the Reserve Forces Act program at the Armor Center at Fort Knox, Ky. He received instruction in driving a tank and loading and firing its 105-millimeter gun. He received basic combat training at Fort Dix, N.J. NORTH ADAMS -- Capt. Philip Carr, commander officer of this city’s National Guard unit, announced the promotion of three men. Robert Bissaillon was promoted from specialist fifth class to staff sergeant, Donald Mark land from specialist fourth class to sergeant and John Gaspardi from specialist fourth to specialist fifth class.

NORTH ADAMS -- Berk shire Optical pitcher Kevin Aubin allowed only one hit and struck out 15 as his team beat the Elks 13-5 in Stuart Schoul er League baseball. Aubin also helped offensively with a three-run homer and two singles. Teammate Al Marceau came up with a triple among his three hits and Heath Rarick had a triple and a single. Brent Wallace had the Elks’ only hit.
NORTH ADAMS -- Morri son Berkshire pulled out a close one, overcoming Preite Oil 3-2 in the Senior Division of the Northern Berkshire Girls Softball League. Alicia Blair had two hits including a home run, Jennifer Moreau had two held and Niki Cairns added a double

NORTH ADAMS -- In the North Adams Little League, Hoosac Bank held on to a 4-3 victory over Elks at Kemp Park. Jared Lampiasi was the winning pitcher. Matt Dargie and Lampiasi each had two hits for the winners. Hayden Parsons had an RBI hit. For the Elks, Josh Racette had a double and Matt Bombach had a hit.
WILLIAMSTOWN -- Christopher Sussman, son of Michael and Sarah Sussman of Williamstown, was one of 370 seniors who received bachelor of arts degrees at Colby College in Waterville, Maine on May 26. He received his degree cum laude with a major in anthropology and a minor in environmental studies.
