ADAMS -- Albin Moser, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kurt Moser of Orchard Street, went to Amherst to attend the annual Boys’ State week at the University of Massachusetts. He is sponsored by Adams Post, American Legion, for attendance at the American ism project which features study and practice of the functions of government. POWNAL, Vt. -- Dean Dixon and David Smith, both members of Boy Scout Troop 47, will leave Sunday for Camp Sunrise where they will attend the Greenbar School for one week. Greenbar School provides patrol leaders with a week of training for junior leadership in the Scout Troop.

STAMFORD, Vt. -- First grade students in Linda Ro-sen’s class at Stamford Ele mentary School received pins and certificates as part of a "Home Readers" program. The students are Aaron Bird, Brian Dennison, Kevin Ther rien, Colin Haviland, Rachelle Mullet, Samantha Lawrence, Rene Potvin and Jason Rondeau.

NORTH ADAMS -- Marine Lane Cpl. Thomas Boucher, son of Francis and Virginia Boucher of 36 Barlow Ave., recently departed for a six-month deployment to West Africa and South America with Marine Department Detach ment Unitas 28 at Camp Lejeune, N.C. Cpl. Boucher joined the Marine Corps in January 1984.

St., Adams, and Francis Beaudreau Jr. of 166 East Quincy St., recently was promoted to his current rank while serving with 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines, 2nd Marine Division at Camp Le jeune, N.C. He joined the Mar ine Corps in November 2001.

CLARKSBURG -- Scott Bailey, son of Stephen and Marianne Bailey of Clarks burg, has been named to the president’s list a the State University of New York in Potsdam, N.Y., for the spring semester. To achieve the president’s list honor, each student must have completed 12 numerically graded semester hours and a minimum grade point average of 3.5. Bailey is majoring in performance music.
