The 2012 All-Transcript Softball Team has 12 girls on it.

Leading the way is MVP Caitie Benoit, a senior catcher from Mount Greylock. Joining her on the infield is Drury's Arianna Hilchey at first base, Lyndsey DeGrenier at second, Laryssa LaPointe at third and Cat Record in the circle. Caroline and Heather Tomkowicz join Record in the three-pitcher rotation. Hoosac's Tori Rumbolt rounds out the infield at shortstop.

In the outfield, Greylock's Michaela DiNicola takes the nod in center field. Drury's Amanda Ramsdell and Hoosac's Alexis Bushika are the other two outfielders. McCann Tech's Erika Ziemba is the flex player.

MVP Caitie Benoit

MVP BY THE NUMBERS

With a .537 batting average, four home runs and 19 walks, she scored 29 times.

After a torrid start in her senior season, she ended up being walked 19 times.

Benoit was deadly from behind the plate, allowing just two stolen bases.

Heather Tomkowicz

"Heather was solid on the mound for us this year.

She never got rattled, even if she gave up a big hit here or there she gathered herself and kept a lot of batters off balance.

She switched things up between her curveball and hit her spots with her fastball. She exceeded every expectation for us this year."

- Coach June Blake

Tori Rumbolt

"She's definitely a very important member of our team.

She was the leader in the infield. She made the big plays and was vocal on where the ball needed to go.

She was our No. 3 hitter and she really did her job there. She was really a true leader for us this year."

- Coach Morgan Shafer

Cat Record

"She brought a lot of consistency. The girls knew that they weren't going to just stand there and wait for her to walk people.

She was not a strikeout queen by any means, but she allowed them to put the bat on the ball and a lot of times there were ground outs the girls took care of.

The team had a lot of confidence in her."

- Coach Mary Ann Maroni

Michaela DiNicola

"We knew if the ball was hit to center, Michaela was going to find a way to get to it, and she usually did.

She has a great arm from the outfield. ... She was a multiple threat from the plate.

She can slap, she can bunt and she can hit. She was great to have in our lineup, for sure."

- Coach June Blake

Caroline Tomkowicz

"Caroline did a lot for the team this year. It was her first year on varsity, and she was very patient waiting for her chance to get to the mound.

When she did, she gave it everything she had and did a lot of learning on the mound. She's there for her team and showed her team just that. She did whatever she was asked to help the team win."

- Coach Morgan Shafer

Arianna Hilchey

"She really surprised us, especially with her consistency as an eighth grader.

Her fielding percentage was .950 percent. The kids knew if they threw to first base with Ari there, she was going to catch the ball.

Through hard work she improved greatly, and she is very coachable."

- Coach Mary Ann Maroni

Alexis Bushika

"She's the best utility player any team could have.

She played anywhere she was asked and was fantastic in the outfield for us and great when she was asked to pitch.

Batting-wise, she was our No. 4 batter and she really did a lot of things for us."

- Coach Morgan Shafer

Amanda Ramsdell

"Amanda had a great first half of the season.

She was really hot in the first part of the season.

She had eight games where she had multiple hits and an RBI or two.

She finished the year with 19 runs, 14 RBI and 20 hits. She held down center field for us."

- Coach Mary Ann Maroni

Lyndsey DeGrenier

"She was the anchor of our team. She was a role model for the younger kids.

There are so many facets of the game that she gets. Lyndsey is a true athlete.

She has an instinct for the game. She didn't have to think, it's instinctive for her. ... She was tops or close to the top in every offensive category, she was so important to our team."

- Coach Mary Ann Maroni

Laryssa LaPointe

"She was very important to this team.

Laryssa hit .571 in the postseason. She really did a heck of a job.

Her numbers aren't terrific over the whole season, but in the postseason, she really kept us in the game.

She moved to third base about half way through the season. Defensively, she was very impressive. She was solid there for us."

- Coach Mary Ann Maroni

Erika Ziemba

"Offensively she carried us in every single game.

Erika ended the season batting .489, and she led the team in home runs.

She led in RBI, hits, so offensively she really carried us. ... Erika wasn't one of those over powering pitchers, but she was consistent every game."

- Coach Robin Finnegan
