ADAMS -- Two people were taken to the hospital following a motor vehicle accident that closed Route 8 for about an hour Saturday morning.
Shirley Trudeau, a passenger in one of the vehicles, and Willard Bard, of Adams, were taken by Adams Amb ulance Service to North Adams Regional Hospital. Information about their conditions and the extent of their injuries was unavailable Sunday night.
According to police, Willard, who was driving a 2006 Hyundai Accent, was making a right turn out of Glen Street onto Commercial Street (Route 8) when his car was struck by a 2010 GMC Sierra traveling south on Commercial Street. The GMC Sierra was driven by Maureen Goodreau of Cheshire, and Trudeau was a passenger in the pickup truck, police said.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene, and Bard was issued a citation for failure to use care in turning, which is a town bylaw.
The accident was reported at 9:49 a.m.
