ADAMS -- Join cultural educator, drummer and singer Aimee Gelinas in a hands-on participatory drum circle Thursday, July 12, at 6 p.m., at the Adams Free Library.

The program focus on folkloric and contemporary Afro-Caribbean and West African drumming, percussion and singing. Using playful and accessible rhythm-based activities, rhythm games, ensemble pieces and stories, the drum circle can develop many skills, including creativity, teamwork, active listening and problem-solving.

No musical experience is required. Everyone will be able to participate. Children of all ages are invited. An adult must accompany children under 8 years of age. Library events are free and open to the public. Call the Adams Free Library at 413-743-8345 for more information.

This program is part of the library’s Dream Big-Read! Summer Reading Program, which is sponsored by the library, Massachusetts Library System, Boston Bruins and Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
