CLARKSBURG -- Joseph Bianco and his daughter Nancy won the Scotch Foursome Flag Tournament at the North Adams Country Club on the holi day, ending up 30-feet from the pin on the 22nd hole. Lionel Roy and Kay Mendell and Art and Gert Harvey tied for runner-up honors. Both teams were in the cup on the 21st hole. ADAMS -- Joan Meczywor of Pinnacle Mobilehome Park, is one of six persons certified by the state Civil Service Com mission to the Pittsfield welfare commissioner as eligible for appointment to two vacant junior clerk jobs in his department. She had won a place on Civil Services lists through examinations given in 1960.

ADAMS -- The Massa chusetts Small Cities Program once again has a program manager in Adams. After a two-month vacancy in that office, Thomas Webb of Williams town, took the job June 22, filling the post formerly held by Michael Nu vallie. As program manager, Mr. Webb will administer state funds and evaluate code violations in local housing.

NORTH ADAMS -- Preite Oil Co. assaulted Coakley, Pierpan, Dolan and Collins with a 13-1 win in the Northern Berkshire Girl’s Softball League. For Preite, Julie Harr ington was the top hitter with four hits, including a triple. Kim Remillard had three hits, including a home run and Kathy Gaffey had three hits. For the losers, Beth Goodell had two hits, including a double,

10 years ago today

ADAMS -- Graduates of the practical nursing certificate program at Berkshire Com munity College were recognized June 20 during a pinning ceremony in the Robert Bol and Theatre. Local graduates included Yvette Miller of Adams and Sharon DuPont of Lanesborough. Graduates of the 10-month program are eligible to sit for the licensed practice nurse exam within 10 days of graduation.

WILLIAMSTOWN -- Marc Kassin, son of Saul and Carol Kassin of Williamstown, has been named to the dean’s list at Colby College for the spring semester. He is a member of the Class of 2005 and is majoring in government and minoring in economics and mathematics. He is a graduate of Mt. Grey lock Regional High School.
