STAMFORD, Vt. -- The board of School Directors will do a second round of advertising in its search for a new principal and third and fourth grade teacher at the elementary school.
Cynthia Lamore, chairwoman of the School Directors, said Thursday night that interview committees for both positions agreed that they would like do a round of advertising locally. The positions were previously advertised on SchoolSpring, which is a job search website for education positions nationwide.
"It’s not that we don’t have viable candidates, but we’re looking for more local candidates and not so country-wide," Lamore said.
The School Directors met Thursday night to assign members to the interview committees. The committees, which also included parents and community members, then met to screen through the applications that had been received for the positions. A third interview committee also met to review applications received for teaching posts in music, physical education and technology.
Of the 45 applications for the third and fourth grade teaching position, the interview committee chose four candidates it hopes to interview next week.
School Director Nancy LeSage, a member of the interview committee, said at this point in the process, she couldn’t release the names of the individuals they had chosen to interview, and the initial interviews would be held in
Lamore said that 16 applications had been received so far for the principal position. Members of the interview committee for that position had yet to decided Thursday night on the number of candidates they would to interview.
Lamore said the School Directors will also be looking to advertise the music, physical education and technology teaching positions locally in order to widen the pool of candidates. The three positions are part-time. About five applications were received each for the music and physical education positions, and four were received for the technology post, she said.
