Winding up to wind worksite: FLORIDA -- The turbine pieces for the Hoosac Wind Project started making their way through Northern Berkshire today and will continue being transported over the next six to eight weeks. The parts are headed for Florida and Monroe, where the $90 million wind turbine project will be built on Crum Hill in Monroe and Bakke Mountain in Florida. Paul Copleman, communications manager for Iberdrola Renewables, spoke to the Transcript today about the project.

Real-world education: NORTH ADAMS -- Engineers at the Hadley Overpass answered the age-old question of "when are we ever going to use math and science?" on Tuesday, as they gave sixth- and seventh-grade students in the city's Science Summer Camp a firsthand look at the work going on at the Hadley Overpass.

Building destroyed by blaze: STAMFORD, Vt. -- A woodworking shop on Basin Road was destroyed by fire early Tuesday morning.

Fire Chief Paul Ethier said the 245 Basin Road building was "totaled" in the blaze, and most of the tools inside the structure were "at least damaged, if not totaled." The shop shared the property with a detached house, which wasn't damaged in the blaze.
