NORTH ADAMS -- With their backs against the wall, IBerkshires came out of the corner fighting and earned the right to play another day.

Eric Hirsch, Kareen Beckett and Jake Benzinger combined for 13 of the team's 22 hits as IBerkshires evened the three-game series for the North Adams Babe Ruth championship with a 20-13 victory over Consigli on Tuesday night.

IBerkshires was able to score runs in bunches, as they had two four-and five-run innings to fuel the win. Both times they came in back-to-back form. In the second, they plated four and followed it up with 5 in the third. They repeated it in the fourth and fifth innings.

Benzinger earned the win on the mound. He pitched the first four innings, allowed four earned runs on six hits and struck out four. Shane Garvey pitched scoreless fifth and sixth innings and Hirsch finished off the seventh.

Brodie Altiere was 4 for 5 for Consigli.

The decisive Game 3 is tonight at 7 p.m. at the Alcombright Complex.

Little League

PITTSFIELD -- Pittsfield South is one win away from a District I championship.

Three players hit home runs as Pittsfield South beat North Adams 18-8 Tuesday night in the winners' bracket final at Springside Park.

With the victory, Pittsfield South is off until Friday at 5:30 when the championship game will be played. North Adams will play on Thursday against the winner of tonight's game between Pittsfield Don Gleason North

and Pittsfield Myron Gray West. The other two games will also begin at 5:30.

Shawn Morgan got the win for Pittsfield South. He was helped by an offensive explosion that included home runs by Drew DeMartino, Luke Scarafoni and Joe Cracolici. Ryan Harrison had three hits for South.

David Beebe homered for North Adams and Ethan Sheldon had two hits.
