POWNAL -- Senior 4-H club members will enter Camp Ondawa on Sunday for a week of concentrated 4-H and camp activities. Members or the Pownal Pioneer planning to enter camp next week are Lynda LaBonte, Toni Johnson and Craig Snow. Linda Zimmer will continue as a councilor in training and Doris Mason assistant cook. NORTH ADAMS -- Lt. John Gagnon, son of Mrs. John Gagnon of 54 Marietta St., has left for Camp Eustis, Va., for nine weeks of training. He was graduated from Notre Dame University in South Bend, Inc., in June and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Army ROTC at the university. On Oct. 12 Lt. Gagnon will leave for France.

NORTH ADAMS -- Preite Oil Co. beat Coakley, Pierpan, Dolan and Collins 20-6 in the Northern Berkshire Girls’ Softball League. Becky Waite and Christine Lepel each had four hits to lead Preite. Jennifer Gelinas contributed two hits, including a triple. For CPDC, Carrie St. Jacques had two hits, including a double and Beth Goodell and Eileen Flynn each had two hits.
NORTH ADAMS -- Two city children have had the excitement of having their art selected to be shown on television on the Disney Channel’s "Small World" children’s art showcase. Drawings by Arleigh Giroux, 9, and Margaret Delisle, 7, were chosen from the more than 5,000 original art pieces sent each month to the Disney

STAMFORD, Vt. -- The Geography Bee for South eastern Vermont was held recently at the Bellows Falls Middle School. Stamford Elementary School was the second place winner. Members of the team were Cathy Downes, Taylor Erdeski, Greg Burton, Ben Carlson and Cody Johnson.
NORTH ADAMS -- In North Adams Men’s Softball League action, Ayotte Construction defeated NA Law, 12-10. Geno Gavazzi led the way for the winners going 4-for-4 with a pair of homers. Rick Barber had three hits and Tom Lannickle had two hits and three RBIs. Dan Goodell and Todd Yeaton had three hits apiece and Chris Modena had a home run for NA Law.
