NORTH ADAMS -- The North Adams Museum of History and Science will continue its temporary exhibit, "Genealogy," in the gallery through September.

This exhibit provides the basics for those interested in delving into family history. The materials concentrate on doing research in the Common wealth of Massachusetts, but can be helpful for all amateur genealogists. Local ancestors’ photographs are also featured.

On Sunday, Aug. 5, North Adams native Thomas Toohey will present "Irish Genealogy 101" at 3 p.m. in Building 4. A resident of eastern Mass achusetts, Toohey has traveled ex tensively in Ireland. He maintains a summer home in nearby Southern Vermont and will use examples from his own Mea ney and Toohey roots to introduce attendees to Irish gene alogical research.

Resources from the Re search Room are also available during regular museum hours in Build ing 5A in Western Gate way Her itage State Park on Thurs day, Friday and Satur day, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, 1 to 4 p.m., throughout the summer or by appointment.

The temporary gallery is on the first floor of the three-story museum and is handicapped accessible.
