You shall not pass: NORTH ADAMS -- The Hadley Overpass will be closed from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m. from Monday to Thursday of next week and again on Monday, July 30. The closures -- which will shut down the bridge entirely -- are needed to replace expansion joints on the bridge.

Open office initiative: U.S. Sen. John Kerry's staffers held office hours in Adams and Williamstown on Wednesday as part of the office's initiative to visit each of the commonwealth's 351 cities and towns, a replication of its 2009 feat. Brigid O'Rourke, the staff representative who visited the two towns, spoke with us about the initiative.

Merlin's disappearing act: ADAMS -- Merlin, a seven-year old Harlequin macaw parrot owned by Laurie Scott, flew out of Scott's Burt Street home Monday evening and she has been running a campaign to find the bird ever since.

Efforts to catch the parrot with the use of a Troy's Tree Service bucket truck were unsuccessful Wednesday and the beloved pet remains missing.

"I'm a mess," Scott said. "He's family. I just want him to come home."

If anyone sees Merlin, they are asked to contact the Adams Police Department at 743-1212 or Scott directly at 413-441-9556. Scott also warned that Merlin is shy and he may bite.
