NORTH ADAMS -- Neigh borhoods throughout North Adams, Adams and Williams town are invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the "29th Annual National Night Out" crime and drug prevention event Tuesday, Aug. 7.
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime/ drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime efforts; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
On Aug. 7, residents of North Adams, Adams and Williamstown are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police and fire personnel. Seven neighborhoods throughout North Berkshire will host a variety of special events, such as cookouts, games, contests, music and more.
