She was lost, but now is found: FLORIDA -- Reports of a lost woman in Savoy State Forest on Monday prompted action from Massachusetts State Police (MSP) and several other local police and fire departments Monday night.

Police say a call reporting a 51-year-old Adams woman came in at 10:12 p.m. from the area of North Pond.

"It appears that she wandered off and left the friends she was with and became lost in the woods," Trooper Thomas Murphy, a MSP spokesperson, said Tuesday. "She was unharmed and returned to the scene at 1:44 a.m."

MSP, Clarksburg Fire Department, Cheshire police and fire departments and Savoy Fire Department were called in to organize a search.

Blazing the trail: FLORIDA -- Some New York City kids got to test their grips on weed whackers and loppers Tuesday morning while taking part in a program to enhance the Mahican-Mohawk Trail.

The group of 10, plus instructors from the Manice Education Center, were among the first to hike a newly-connected segment of the trail that, thanks in part to their efforts, will open to the public later this summer. A 25-mile segment of trail from North Adams to the Mohawk Trail State Forest and through Savoy State Forest will open to the public thanks to similar efforts over many years.
