WILLIAMSTOWN -- Keith Michael Johnson will present "Amazing Americans" on Thursday, Aug. 2, at 4 p.m., at the Milne Public Library.

The program is in conjunction with the 2012 summer reading theme "Dream Big --- READ!" and echoing the library’s sub-series, "Dreamers and Doers."

To answer a child’s age-old question, "Why is history important to me?" the hour-long program is full of anecdotes, stories, insights and artifacts about our collective history.

In Johnson’s own words, "Our country’s past isn’t just about politicians, time-lines or documents. Culture, science, art, fashion and our diverse population are all important."

Of special interest among the famous Americans featured in Johnson’s show are Ben Franklin and Amelia Earhart, who were featured "dreamers" in the summer reading.

This show is good for elementary school ages. The summer reading certificates will be handed out at the end of the presentation.
