Alleged king of ring arrested: NORTH ADAMS -- The alleged kingpin of a crack-cocaine distribution ring will be arraigned Friday morning in Northern Berkshire District Court, following his arrest in the Eagle and Hudson streets neighborhood.

Clifton Sumlin, of the Bronx, N.Y., was arrested on an outstanding warrant issued for a single charge of distribution of crack.

Adams introduced to Ramblefest: ADAMS -- Representing the Pro Adams group, Dave Bissaillon attended Wednesday night's Selectmen's meeting to announce Ramblefest, an event modeled after March's Thunderfest and set to take place on Oct. 7 at the Adams Visitors Center.

festivities will feature food, live music, beer and more. Like Thunderfest, it's meant to compliment an already established town event, Columbus Day Weekend's Ramble up Mount Greylock.

Addressing delinquent taxpayers: NORTH ADAMS -- The city's Finance Committee met tonight to review polices and procedures for delinquent taxpayers.

The celebration is on the way: NORTH ADAMS -- The 16th annual Downtown Celebration will feature a circus theme this year, with stilt-walkers and balancing acts. Traditional vendors and restaurants will fill Main Street, and Holden Street will host another street drawing.

The celebration, running from 5:30 to 9 p.m., will take place Wednesday, Aug. 15, with a rain date of Aug. 16.

Williams College could help on housing: WILLIAMSTOWN -- Property owned by Williams College is the latest site to be considered by Higher Ground for disaster replacement housing.

Technology to the fore: NORTH ADAMS -- Besides a few language changes to the model teacher and administration standards provided by the state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, the North Adams Public School's Educator Evaluation Working Group is recommending the addition of a standard that requires teachers to become literate in technology and implement its use in their lesson plans.
