POWNAL, Vt. -- A third person was injured in a crash on Jackson Crossing Road on Tuesday when police said an 18-year-old driver from Bennington lost control of his pickup and hit a pedestrian and a tree.
Corey Shores, 17, was discharged from Albany (N.Y.) Medical Center recently, according to the hospital. Corey Shores Sr. told New England Newspapers on Thursday that his son suffered an injury to his elbow and memory loss. The younger Shores and another male were passengers in the vehicle. A state police affidavit indicated they were asked to stay on scene, but said they left.
The crash occurred, according to police, when William C. Lacroix, 18, of Bennington, lost control of his vehicle coming down a hill and hit Deborah Ennis, 36, as she was walking with a friend and the friend's 2-year-old son. Ennis was flown to the medical center in Albany and was listed in fair condition there Friday.
Police said Abbie Endres, 15, another passenger in Lacroix's truck, was also flown there with injuries. The medical center said it had no information available on Endres. Police also gave the incorrect spelling of Endres' name in the affidavit.
Lacroix pleaded not guilty Wednesday to two felony counts of gross negligent vehicle operation with serious injury and was released on conditions. He told
