NORTH ADAMS -- An unidentified man was flown to Albany Medical Center with serious injuries following an explosion at 497 Daniels Road on Monday night.
Fire Director Stephen Meranti said that the explosion occurred in the workshop area of a barn on the property, and one man was injured. The individual, whose name he couldn’t release at the time, had to be airlifted to Albany Medical Center, he said. The materials involved and the cause of the explosion were unknown as late Monday night.
"There was a fire, which neighbors put out prior to our arrival. The state Fire Marshall’s Office has come up to investigate the cause of the explosion," he said.
According to the North Adams police log, the explosion was reported at 8:41 p.m. The North Adams Police and Fire departments responded, as well as North Adams Ambulance Service. No further information was available as of press time.
