NORTH ADAMS -- A motorcade, carrying U.S. Army Pfc. Michael DeMarsico, will arrive in the city on Wednesday, Aug. 29 at 12:30 p.m.

DeMarsico, 20, was killed on Aug. 16 by an improvised explosive device, while serving in Afghanistan.

The motorcade, will travel along Route 2, coming into the city on Union Street and briefly stopping at the Veterans Memorial Park, before continuing over the Veterans Memorial Bridge and West Main Street to the Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home, West Chapels.

The public is encouraged to line the motorcade's route to "welcome" DeMarsico home.

Calling hours will be at the funeral home, at 521 West Main St., from 2 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 31, with funeral services and a celebration of DeMarsico's life beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1 at the First Baptist Church on Main Street.

The funeral procession will begin at the funeral home, traveling from West Main Street to Main Street, ending at the church. Burial will follow the service at Southview Cemetery, with the procession route beginning at the church, traveling on Eagle Street, past the Veterans Memorial Park onto Route 2. From there, the procession will turn onto Holden Street, traveling onto Main Street and then American Legion Drive, where it will make its way onto Ashland and S. Church streets, continuing south until arriving at the cemetery.

There will be a reception immediately following the funeral services at the St. Elizabeth's Parish Center on St. Anthony

The public is advised that on the day of the funeral, general traffic along the above mentioned routes will be detoured to alternative routes and there may be periods of heavy congestion.
