POWNAL, Vt. -- State police said that with the aid of the town constable, they were able to locate a man wanted in connection with an alleged stabbing incident Monday in Alta Gardens Mobile Home Park.
Vermont State Trooper James Wright wrote in a release that Brian Lemaire, 32, of Pownal, was arrested Tuesday after being located in an abandoned mobile home at the Green Mountain Mobile Home park, which is next to Alta Gardens off Route 7.
Police said Lemaire was being sought for allegedly stabbing Tommy Himes, 38, of Pownal, in the side with a knife. According to police, the two had been in a fist fight, then Lemaire allegedly got a knife, which he used to stab Himes.
Himes was taken to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center with non life threatening injuries. Hospital spokeswoman Eileen Druckenmiller said additional security precautions were taken at the emergency room where Himes was treated because Lemaire’s location was not known.
Police were unable to locate Lemaire on Monday, but a tip from a concerned citizen led them to the abandoned trailer at around 10:30 a.m. the next day.
Lemaire was taken to the Marble Valley Correctional Facility in Rutland and ordered held without bail. He is was cited for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. According to his attorney, Frederick Bragdon, Lemaire pleaded not guilty to the charges against him and was held without bail pending a weight of the evidence hearing.
