WILLIAMSTOWN -- It simply was not the Mount Greylock volleyball team's night. As coach Phil Paul said, "We never really got started."
The Mounties fell quickly to the visiting Millionaires, 3-0 (25-10, 25-21, 25-16) on Tuesday evening.
"We did a little better in the second [set], but not much," Paul said. "Lenox played well, but I expected to be a little better against them than we were [Tuesday]."
Lenox took advantage of Greylock's poor communication and slumping service game to quickly establish a 1-set lead. The Mounties did play better in the second, talked better, passed better too, but the Millionaires were too much. Lenox wasted little time claiming their third match with a nine-point victory in the third set.
"It just wasn't our night," Paul said. "We've been getting better each week and we came in [Tuesday] and to come up with this performance, it was disappointing."
Rachel Cogswell helped fuel the Lenox offense with 10 assists. Jackson had five kills and five blocks.
Michala Dean had Greylock's best night with 20 digs, 12 kills and three aces. The most telling Greylock stat, though, was Paul's estimated 18 service errors.
