ACLU weighs in on no trespass order: NORTH ADAMS -- The American Civil Liberties Union is requesting the city revoke its no trespass order against Robert Cardimino, say that it violates his right of free speech. The city is declining to comment pending review of the letter and Cardimino has declined to comment until the city does so.

Restitution ordered for Fryc: NORTH ADAMS -- Carol A. Fryc , 71, of Arnold Place, was ordered by Northern Berkshire District Court today to pay $28,026 in restitution in connection with a Northern Berkshire School Union larceny case.

Recognizing the experienced: NORTH ADAMS -- Mayor Richard J. Alcombright recognized the city’s older workers on Monday, as part of Older Workers Week.
The older work force, of residents age 55 and older, is integral to the economy in the Berkshires, according to Heather Boulger, executive director of the Berkshire County Regional Employment Board, because workers over the age of 55 make up 20 percent of the county’s work force.

COA’s new home: ADAMS -- The Council on Aging’s new location at the Adams Visitors Center was the site of an open house today. The Transcript was there to learn about the council’s new programs and its outreach results.
