Red & delicious: While this spring’s warm weather was damaging to the local apple crop, the dry summer resulted in fruits with excellent taste, according to local growers.

The Transcript takes a look at how this year’s crop measures up with David Jurczak of Lakeview Orchard in Lanesborough and Charles Jaeschke of Jaeschke’s Orchard in Adams.

Committee’s clarification: WILLIAMSTOWN -- Following the Williamstown Finance Committee’s forum last week about the Williamstown Fire District’s plans for a new fire station, the town’s Affordable Housing Committee wants to clarify that it isn’t interested in developing the Lehovec property on Main Street, which is the property the fire district is looking at for a new station.

The reason for the clarification follows a question asked at the forum about whether the fire district had considered the Photech property on Cole Avenue for a new station because the Lehovec property would be more suitable for affordable housing. The Affordable Housing Committee is interested in developing the Photech property into housing.
