Real-world voice in MCLA class: NORTH ADAMS -- Massachusetts Secretary of Veterans’ Services Coleman Nee joined MCLA professor Jim Canavan’s public policy class today.

As Secretary, Nee works with federal, state and municipal partners to focus on strengthening operations and service delivery to veterans and their families.

Ramble on: ADAMS -- As Monday’s 45th annual Mount Greylock Ramble nears, town officials are expecting good hiking weather -- cool, dry and sunny.

Meanwhile, the forecast is questionable for Sunday’s Ramblefest, but organizers are planning for the celebration to go on rain or shine.

Feeding mind and body: NORTH ADAMS -- For a third consecutive year, the North Adams Transcript and New England Newspapers Inc., will hold a circulation drive, "Feed Your Mind, Feed A Family," that aims to provide the needy with holiday meals.

The drive, which provided meals to about 1,000 residents in Western Massachusetts and Southern Vermont last year, will hold a kick-off party at Desperado’s in North Adams on Friday night.

Working up to a roadmap: ADAMS -- Future drafters of the town’s next 5-year strat egic plan will be in good company, as officials aim to include a broad range of interests for a 2-part brainstorm session at the Adams Visitors Center.

Town Administrator Jona than Butler said at a Select men’s meeting Wednesday night that he’d like these sessions to occur sometime in January, 2013, with a document produced that spring.
