WILLIAMSTOWN -- A special exhibit, "Williamstown in the Golden Age of Postcards," will open on Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Williamstown Historical Museum.
On display will be some 120 vintage postcards depicting views of buildings, streetscapes and rural scenery in Willi amstown from 1900 to 1915, when the production, marketing and collection of postcards became a national obsession.
The exhibit reveals what Williamstown looked like a century ago and provides a concise history of the production of postcards.
The exhibit will open at 11:15 a.m. with remarks from its curator, Gale Griffin, and her husband, Dustin Griffin. Cof fee will be served at 11 a.m.
Gale Griffin retired in 2000 after a 17-year career in corporate communications at Best foods, an international food company. She has written and edited corporate histories and edited several volumes of family history.
The museum was founded in 1941 and is located in the Mil ne Public Library. The museum conserves and protects historic items related to the town's past.
