NORTH ADAMS -- The Breast Health Program at North Adams Regional Hospital is offering an array of activities to the public this month in observance of Breast Health Awareness Month.
Events are geared to educate the public about breast cancer prevention and early detection.
Activities include a free women’s self-defense class, courtesy of Villari’s Martial Arts Centers in Wil liamstown; an excursion to Boston to participate in the Komen Massachusetts Race for the Cure; and the free annual "Girls Night Out" health fair extravaganza.
The NARH Medical Imaging department, which will hold an open house, will give away treats to all who receive a mammogram this month. NARH will offer extra outreach and education including a presentation to the Florida Senior Center.
The schedule of events includes: "Fight Like a Girl" self-defense class today from 6 to 8 p.m.; Race for the Cure in Boston, Saturday, Oct. 20, from 5:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; "Girls Night Out" women’s health fair, Thursday, Oct. 25, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.; and the Medical Imaging Department open house, also on Thursday, Oct. 25, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
All programs are sponsored by REACH and the Breast Health program at NARH with support from the Massachusetts Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
