NEW YORK -- Mark Sanchez had his moments -- good and bad -- for the Jets. Tim Tebow, too.
But some of the Jets’ biggest flaws were on full display in their 23-17 loss to the Houston Texans. They couldn’t run the ball, the defense couldn’t stop the run and Tebow still isn’t running on the field much.
Rex Ryan says the Jets need to get their running game going for the offense to start clicking. The defense was also embarrassed, allowing Arian Foster to gash them for 152 yards.
New York’s receiving corps is so thin, even free agent Terrell Owens tweeted at the Jets to call his agent to sign him. Ryan says you "never say never," but it appears the Jets are sticking with their current crew of receivers.
Bills GM: ‘No Excuse’
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Buffalo Bills general manager Buddy Nix says there’s no excuse for his defense’s meltdowns, and is calling out the entire unit for playing with a lack of urgency.
Nix refused to single out any one player, while adding it’s unfair to place all the blame on defensive end Mario Williams, who signed a six-year, $100 million contract in March. Nix would acknowledge that Williams needs to play better as does the entire team.
Nix spoke Tuesday on a conference call from Phoenix, where the Bills (2-3) are spending the week preparing to play Arizona. The Bills find themselves in a state of crisis after two consecutive
Buffalo is coming off a 45-3 loss at San Francisco, which came on the heels of a 52-28 loss to New England.
Bush has kid on way
MIAMI -- Reggie Bush is going to become a first-time father.
Bush, the Miami Dolphins’ running back, said he and his girlfriend, Lilit Avagyan, are excited about the news.
"We can’t wait," he said Tuesday during a weekly radio appearance in South Florida. "It’s an opportunity to bring in a new life and raise a child. I think that’s the most special gift to a man and a woman. I look forward to it and to building a family."
They don’t know yet whether the baby is a boy or girl.
