A plan for the wellness of the city: NORTH ADAMS -- State health officials will hear from Ralph Brill, a local gallerist and former architect, during tomorrow’s Ounce of Prevention Conference, where he’ll present a vision that aims to put North Adams back on the map by creating several wellness-based economic drivers.
His ideas include a medical complex on the south side of Main Street, a luxury apartment/conference/hotel center that spans Route 2 and the creation of a Chinese museum. He says the plan would create 3,000 high-paying professional jobs.

Seeking safety from scams: NORTH ADAMS -- A Medicare scam was recently reported in the city, and Pearl Mullett, president of Triad, a community policing group geared at protecting seniors, is using the scam to get word out to the community about such operations.
Mullett said state Rep. Gailanne Cariddi, D-North Adams, will attend the group’s meeting on Nov. 28 at 12:30 p.m. at the American Legion to speak on the matter.

Wide world of words: Words are Wonderful, an annual celebration of literature at Williamstown Elementary School, will begin on Wednesday.
For a week and a half, students at Williamstown Elementary School, Mount Greylock Regional High School and Lanesborough Elementary School will have an opportunity to participate in several literature-based programs and meet with authors George O’Connor and Cynthia Lord.
