NORTH ADAMS -- Three area residents who trained at Harriman Airport with Manager George West have received pilot licenses. Two received private pilot licenses. They are Jack Esposito of Bracewell Avenue, North Adams, and Prof. William Pierson Jr. of 50 South St., Williamstown. Holder of a private pilot license with airplane single and multiengine land ratings is Robert Sprague III of Williamstown. NORTH ADAMS -- George Heisler of 1189 Massachusetts Ave. was appointed chairman-secretary of the municipal Board of License Commissioners to succeed Theodore Bridges of 119 Hall St., who has resigned. Mr. Heisler has been a member of the commission since June of 1961.

NORTH ADAMS -- The Drury football team, most notably quarterback Mike Felix, had an all-around successful day in last weekend’s 41-8 win over McCann. Felix took in top offensive player of the week honors for his three touchdowns, 72 yards rushing, five extra-point kicks and a 65-yard passing day. Dan Sherman, cornerback, was named defensive player of the week with 10 tackles.
CHESHIRE -- Ben Robinson received either letters to the Hoosac Valley football team’s Hurricane Club for his performance in Saturday’s 7-0 win over Taconic. Robinson’s efforts included three pass interceptions. Joe Eurbin earned five letters for a fumble recovery and a blocked pass. Bob Bourdon and Scott Alibozek each earned four letters.

NORTH ADAMS -- Stephen Crowe has been appointed the new president and CEO of Hoosac Bank, effective Nov. 1. He will be replacing outgoing president and CEO Thomas Kelly. In addition to his new responsibilities, Crowe will continue as the president and CEO of Williamstown Savings Bank.
CHESHIRE -- Six graduates from Hoosac Valley High School have been named AP Scholars by the College Board in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the college-level AP Exams. Karla Chaffee and Timothy Gal lagher qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award and Evan Dumouchel, Andrew Johnson, Emily McGiness and Michelle Paczos qualified for the AP Scholar Award.
