NORTH ADAMS -- Alcide Bachand Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Bachand of 601 West Shaft Road, has completed 13 weeks of basic training at the U.S. Coast Guard Receiving Station at Cape May, N.J., and has been assigned to the Groton (Conn.) Coast Guard Training Station for advanced seamanship training. Bachand enlisted in the Coast Guard in June. NORTH ADAMS -- Hope Pratt, daughter of Mrs. Donald Thompson of 139 Franklin St., leaves today for Bainbridge, Md., to begin U.S. WAVE re cruit training. Miss Pratt enlisted for a three-year tour of duty. She plans to enter the medical corps school in the WAVES. Her first leave is expected to be about Jan. 1.

NORTH ADAMS -- Century 21 of New England recently held its annual Fall Fest Convention at the Shera ton Tera in Framingham. Eight associates of Century 21, Har old Dupee Realtors of North Adams and Adams attended the event. They were Harold Dupee, Mary-Jane Dalmaso, Fran Buckley, Louis Gagliardi, John Zeppieri, Natalie Mar telle, Mike La Versa and Jen nifer Girard.
ADAMS -- The Berkshire Dance Theatre has announced the return of Esther Mirallegro to the school’s faculty in Adams. She last taught at the BDT in Adams in 1982 as the company’s tap teacher. She will again teach Intermediate/ Advanced Tap for teens and adults beginning in November.

NORTH ADAMS -- Six members of the Medical Records staff at North Adams Regional Hospital have achieved the designation of a Certified Professional Coder from the American Academy of Professional Coders. Certified Coders prevent legal difficulties to ensure that health care providers like NARH receive full reimbursement for services. Lisa McCusker, Gloria Felix, Diane Therrien, Kathy Phaneuf, Ruth Vidal and Susan Downey passed the examination.
