Hoosac girls' soccer

Look back: The Hurricanes did what they needed to do throughout the week, earning 4-1 wins over both Drury and Lee.

Look ahead: The South Division is still up for grabs as the season comes very close to the end. The Hurricanes will battle Mount Greylock on Saturday in a game that will decide the champion. Hoosac will close out the season with a game against Taconic that can help bolster the team's seeding for the tournament.

Greylock girls' soccer

Look back: The Mounties clinched a spot in Western Mass. with a 7-0 win over Mount Everett on Oct. 25. They followed that up with a 4-1 win over the Eagles on Oct. 26, but allowed the Eagles to score first, perhaps getting caught looking to playing Hoosac on Oct. 27. Eight different players scored the 11 goals.

Look ahead: The South is on the line when Greylock rolls into Hoosac Valley for a game on Oct. 27. The winner will be crowned the division champ.

Drury boys' soccer

Look back: It was another tough week for the Blue Devils, as they scored just one goal in two games. They were shut out by Hoosac on 10/22 and lost 6-1 to St. Joe's on 10/26, despite scoring the opening goal in the first minute. Ryan Ouimet had the goal for Drury.

Look ahead: The Blue Devils will put an end to their season with a final tilt against Lee on Oct. 30.

2-2 tie against Lee on Oct. 25 gave the South Division title to the Hurricanes, one season after they won just one game. Hoosac also defeated Drury earlier in the week, 3-0. Nick Ryan had a big week, he scored four goals and had one assist.

Look ahead: Hoosac will play the final regular season game against Taconic on Oct. 27. The game has a possibility to affect seeding for the Western Mass. Tournament. A win would put the Hurricanes in a good position to host a game in the first round.

McCann boys' soccer

Look back: Lost 4-3 to Commerce on Friday.

Look ahead: The Hornets have two regular season games remaining. They come in back-to-back fashion on Oct. 29 (home vs. St. Joe's) and Oct. 30 (at Franklin Tech). The Hornets need to win one to guarantee themselves a spot in the Western Mass. tournament. They are second in the Tri-County II now, good for a spot in WMass., but Putnam is a close third. The Hornets also play Oct. 31 at Keefe Tech in the first round of the state vocational tournament.

Greylock boys' soccer

Look back: The Mounties clinched the North Division title with a 5-2 win over Taconic. They also beat Wahconah 2-0 on Oct. 22. Nathan Majumder continued to be a lethal scoring threat for his team, he scored a hat trick against Taconic and scored against Wahconah, as well.

Look ahead: Greylock will wrap up the regular season with a game against Monument on Oct. 28, a victory would secure an unbeaten regular season in Berkshire County. Seedings for the Western Massachusetts tour nament are due out mid-week.

McCann cross country

Look back: The Hornets closed out their regular season with a meet in West Springfield. The girls lost to Putnam 19-42 and West Springfield 18-43. Zoe Loughman was fourth and Sarah Puricelli was 13th.

The boys were also swept. They lost to Putnam 17-42 and West Springfield 23-33. Justin Schneider was the top finisher for the boys taking sixth place overall. Nick Kordana finished in 11th.

Look ahead: The Hornets will now prepare for the Pioneer Valley Championships on Nov. 3. The meet will take place at Stanley Park in Westfield.

Berkshire County
cross county

Berkshire County cross country teams had the week off as they began to prepare for the Berkshire County Championships on Nov. 3. The teams will then run at Western Mass. the following weekend.

Drury girls' soccer

Look back: It was a difficult week for the Blue Devils. On Oct. 22 they lost to Hoosac 4-1, then they dropped another pivotal in division matchup against Mount Greylock, 4-2. On Sept. 25, Drury snagged one point in the division, hanging on to a scoreless tie against St. Joseph's.

Look ahead: The Blue Devils will put an end to the season with a match against Pittsfield on Oct. 29.

McCann girls' soccer

Look back: Mary Nguyen has hit milestones all season and the past week was no exception. She scored her 100th career goal in a 3-0 win over Franklin Tech on Oct. 26. The win clinched the Tri-County League title outright for the Hornets.

Look ahead: The Hornets are the No. 2 seed in the state vocational tournament and play host to Minutemen Tech on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.

Golf

The Blue Devils finished a remarkable turnaround with a third place finish at the Western Mass. tournament on Oct. 22. Alex Boulger finished fifth overall and qualified for the state tournament.

Hoosac Valley's Chad Alibozek finished second in the tournament and will also make the trip to Lynn for the state championships.

Boulger and Alibozek will have to wait an additional week before the tournament. The MIAA postponed the tournament due to the possibility of Hurricane Sandy hitting on Monday afternoon. The tournament will now be held Nov. 5 at the Gannon Municipal Golf Course and will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.

Boulger will begin the tournament on the tenth hole and Alibozek will start on the 15th.
