WILLIAMSTOWN -- John Hyde, assistant professor of history at Williams College, will become dean of freshmen next July. The appointment was approved by the college’s board of trustees along with a sabbatical leave for Dr. Harlan Hanson, associate professor of German, who has been dean of freshmen since 1960. Dr. Hanson will be traveling and studying in Europe next year during his sabbatical. ADAMS -- Ronald Rousseau, fireman, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rousseau of 123 Commercial St., is attending Electrician’s Mate School at the Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Ill. The 14-week basic course provides a refresher in mathematics, basic electricity and electronics, and the operation, repair and maintenance of electrical equipment used in the Navy. Rousseau enlisted in the Navy in September, 1961.

NORTH ADAMS -- Jeff Bolza, president of Coldwell Banker Isgood Realty, has announced the appointment of Dale Vander Voort as manager of the North Adams office. Mr. Vander Voort has been with the real estate firm since June 1985 and has served as assistant manager in the Willi amstown office since October 1986.
STAMFORD, Vt. -- Daniel Dupras, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Dupras of Main Road, was appointed vice president of Lane Engineering Inc., a mechanical and electrical consulting firm in Rutland. The firm works primarily with New England architects and industries. Mr. Dupras graduated in 1984 from Vermont Technical College.

WILLIAMSTOWN -- Mat thew Sweet, a junior at Skid more College, has been elected to Skidmore’s Peri clean Honor Society. He is the son of Deborah Killan, of Williams town, and Stanley Sweet, of North Adams. The Periclean Honor Society was formed in 1956 to stimulate intellectual curiosity, to encourage creative activity and to honor academic achievement.
CHESHIRE -- In Junior Division youth football, Cheshire ended its season by beating CYC Green, 20-6. Jeremy Pierce led the way for Cheshire with 135 yards rushing. Eric Chipchase rushed for 92 yards, two touchdowns and a two-point conversion. Dalton Larabee also scored and Josh Clairmont did an outstanding job running the offense.
