City lands $881K grant: NORTH ADAMS -- The city has received an $881,488 MassWorks Infrastructure Program grant for upgrades to Heritage State Park. The city’s was one of 26 projects announced as part of a $38 million award by the governor Friday.

Mayor Alcombright said the award is the first step in trying to capture dollars in Historic Rehabilitation and New Market tax credits for a combined project including the Mohawk Theater and the historic rail yard.

New Jersey man found guilty in local drug case: PITTSFIELD -- Martini Martin, 29, of Englewood N.J., pleaded guilty Wednesday in Berkshire Superior Court to two counts possession of

Oxycontin with intent to distribute and two counts conspiracy to violate drug laws.

A 3- to 5-year sentence is expected, according to authorities. It was alleged that Martin sold Oxycontin and conspired in trafficking of the drug with others in Northern Berkshire between April 2, 2010 and May 6, 2010.
